I Hate The Outdoors, But This Changed My Mind

I Hate The Outdoors, But This Changed My Mind

I have never been an outdoor guy or a nature loving freak.

In simple words, I hate the outdoors…

But every time I travel to Mohon, Ozamis City where my mom’s hometown is,

you get to pass Buda, Bukidnon which has a lot of resorts by the way.

I really love the ambiance of the place, the simplicity and it has a calming effect

to me, or maybe because I haven’t been to places like this before?

Who knows…

There are several places like this that has a similar effect to me, for example

the road to Eden Garden in Davao City and Hoyohoy Highland Resort in Ozamis City.

I was so curious and jealous of the people living in those area.

Working in the Web Technology field has its ups and downs but the hustle

is real, as you always need to be updated with almost everything related to

the web and almost every week there’s an update.

Probably that’s why I crave for simplicity and calmness…

I recently found a good spot here in my hometown in Bansalan, Davao del sur.

I have been searching but I’ve never realize it was just right above where I live,

literally more or less around 8km from where I live and up to the mountains.

How awesome is that!

We sometimes look for answers all over the place and we fail to notice that

the answers are sometimes right in front of us, hiding in plain site.

There Are No Absolute Truths

When doing website conversion optimization, always keep in mind that there are no absolute truths

Blindly copying solutions from others could lead to failure as those solutions were created to solve their problems not yours.

There are many ways to kill a cat, though you can always use their solutions as reference and from there, you can generate unlimited ways to solve your problems

How To Make Your Customers Remember Your Services and Products

How To Make Your Customers Remember Your Services and Products

If you want your customers to remember you, your services or your products then adding Self-generation memory effect in your strategy is worth a shot.

What is Self-generation memory effect?

According to Bart Schutz “We remember information better if it is generated by our own mind, moreso than when we read or hear it from someone else. So if you want your customer to remember something, a highly effective strategy is to have him generate the information himself.”

The very straight forward approach in my opinion is to do a survey or feedback approach.

  • So if you are selling something, ask them why they bought your product.
  • If someone is considering using your services ask them why
  • If you are doing a job interview ask them what they expect from you

The bottom line here is that one of the most effective way for someone to generate information or answers on their own is by asking them.

And that is why surveys and feedback are my personal choice.

Now how do you use the self-generation memory effect to grow your business online?

I’m a battleship! Change your course!

I’m a battleship! Change your course!

A battleship was maneuvering in heavy weather.

The lookout reported a light in the distance, so the captain had the signalman send a message:

‘We’re on a collision course. Advise you change your course twenty degrees.’

Minutes later a signal came back: ‘You are in collision course, change your course twenty degress’

The captain angrily ordered that another signal be sent: ‘I am a captain. Change course twenty degrees.’

Again came the reply: ‘I’m a seaman, second class. You’d better change your course.’

Furious by this point, the captain barked a final threat: ‘I’m a battleship! Change your course!’

The signal came back, ‘I’m a lighthouse.’ The captain changed his course!

What do you think is the moral lesson of this story?

How can this story relate to managing websites?

It’s easy…

Be ready to adapt quickly.

When you build your website, don’t anchor yourself to the idea that everything is going to workout just fine with one perfect layout.

Consider your website a living organism it has to adapt depending on your target audience.

Always remember it’s not about you, it is about your audience.

You have to go to your audience’s level and adjust your website so that they can easily understand what your value proposition is or what value your website or services can do for them.

Remember nothing stays forever or a famous quote in my dialect “walang forever“.

People’s perspective change.

The way they feel and the way they look at things specially the way they purchase things online.

Whatever works now doesn’t guarantee, that it will work 5 or 10 years from now.

It is not the strongest or the wisest that survive but the one who can adapt quickly.

The same quote applies to your website it has to learn to adapt quickly.

But it is easier said than done.

You will need to know which part of your website that needs to be optimize and the only way to know that is by doing a conversion research.

Build A Company of Giants

Build A Company of Giants

Doing everything all by yourself is not a bad idea as the saying goes “If you want to get things done, you have to do it yourself.” Well that is true but there are limits to this saying.

You can be a jack of all trades but you can only learn so much within 24 hours a day and how much you manage your time is a big factor as well. You will also consider what are the Urgent and Important things you need to do.

If you want to to improve and grow your business online you can learn how to build a website, promote your website, and then optimize your website for conversion. How long do you think you can learn all this things?

The moment you learn all of this, your competitors are way ahead of you and already establish a brand online. Don’t just work hard pair it with working smart. I know the real world is tough the keyword here is collaboration.

Price Won’t Matter If You Sold Your Value Clearly

Price Won’t Matter If You Sold Your Value Clearly

If you have website that is selling products or offering services, if the price is affordable compare to your competitors, you must show it on your site, make it prominent, make it visible let your visitors know.

On the other hand if your price is not cheap you must explain why and what i’m getting for that price.

Higher price is a bit tricky as you must explain more in depth to your customers the value your product or services can offer them and how it can change their lives.

Always remember when you try selling to someone and they reacted that your price is higher than expected, this only means that you haven’t sold them the value of your product or services. But once they are sold out with the value price won’t matter.

You are not selling them just a product but you are selling them the results in using the product or services you are offering. So make sure to change all features into benefits. Sell to them emotionally.

I’m going to show an example on why price don’t matter in selling..

Here in the Philippines we have a lot of networking companies, just for the record I don’t hate networking company I do believe it helps people, I just hate how members try to sell 20% of the company’s product and 80% on getting you to join the networking company…

It’s all about numbers game…

Anyway on to my example, some of these members try to sell how much you get from your membership fee. A 8k membership could earn you around 30k-100k per month without doing anything from your end.

Now most of these prospects are poor or just have enough financially and when they are tempted they would borrow money for the membership fee.

Take note…

They don’t have money for the membership fee but they are willing to borrow some.

Why?

Because they are sold out on the benefits, how much it can change their lives an 8k over 30k? They can buy rice, clothes and even pay the person who lend them the 8k 🙂

So what i’m trying to say… (Again just to be clear i don’t hate networking companies, i just hate how most of their members sell)

Is that we try to think we are rational or logical thinker but we are not.

We think logically but we decide emotionally…

Attitude

Running a business has its ups and downs. Same with having a website sometimes you get visitors sometimes no visitors at all or writing your blogs but nobody is reading it or leaving comments.

But even if things don’t go your way what matters is what is your attitude towards this circumstances. If your website has no visitors check your site’s insights it should tell you why.

There are lot of ways you can drive traffic to your website and same as you, i’m in constant learning as well. Don’t anchor yourself with the idea that if this works then you stop learning, always monitor and adjust. #beinspiredtoday
